Hi, I’m Xi Chen—founder, principal retoucher. Axis Studio is my home base for transforming images into their most striking, editorial, exhibition - or billboard-ready form. While I collaborate with a small network of talented retouchers, I personally oversee every detail—because the details are the story.
My career began behind the camera, but my eye for detail soon led me to retouch at Box Studio and beyond. Looking for more flexibility, I moved into independent work, and a few years later, Axis Studio naturally took shape in Brooklyn.
Today, Axis Studio works with brands, artists, and agencies to create images with polish, precision, and care. I also explore AI-generated art, Chinese caligraphy and photography for personal projects, weaving it into collaborations when it enhances the vision.
